It just occurred to me that it was this time of year, almost exactly three years ago (Okay, three years and two weeks) that I was in Africa for the very first time. I went there as an Alternative Spring Break, bringing computers to some schools in Cameroon. What an amazing journey since then. How blessed I feel to have been able to go back and study in Senegal, and now I have this chance to go live in Benin for over two years!
This blog is mostly a way for my family in friends to keep up with my travels as I galavant across the globe. Thanks for you continued support ~ Shannon

Peace Corps Update
So due to the awesome efficiency of our government (not), the Peace Corps recently conducted an overview of the Small Enterprise Development program in Togo, and concluded that there weren't any good projects. For some reason this wasn't done BEFORE they started assigning people there. The long and short of it is, however, that I am no longer going to Togo. Instead I am going to Benin, as an Economic Development Advisor. So basically, I am going to be one country over, doing (almost) the same type of thing. So after a bit of freaking out, I simply went a slightly un-dramatic change. And I will be leaving a month later which allows me a little more time to prepare, visit with family/friends I am leaving behind, etc. So all in all I think this has worked out for the better. I am really excited about this new assignment. For now, I am just trying to get everything in order before I leave and finishing up with school.
